Our fight for secure borders is on very dangerous ground.
Pro-amnesty forces in the White House and Senate have NOT given up the fight to pass amnesty for millions of illegals. In fact, new proposals are being floated like trial balloons on Capitol Hill every day.
Make no mistake, these trial balloons have only one purpose, namely to deceive the American people into accepting legislation that includes amnesty for millions of illegal aliens!
Case in point:
On Monday, Senator John Cornyn floated a proposal and asked President Bush to authorize a $3.5 billion emergency spending request to pay for border control measures such as fencing and detention space.
And while such a plan may seem good on the surface, it is being hailed in the media and in Washington as a scheme -- a last ditch effort -- to throw the American people a bone so the Senate can pass so-called "comprehensive reform," which includes amnesty for millions of illegals, this year.
Expect even more of these "bait and switch" and "dog and pony" schemes to unfold in the coming days!
House Speaker Dennis Hastert announced last week that his colleagues will be holding at least 21 field hearing in the month of August. These field hearings are designed to listen to the concerned of the American people about the Senate Scamnesty bill.
But of course, pro-amnesty forces in the Senate want to deflect attention away from these important hearings in the states. Unlike their House counterparts, our elected leaders in the Senate want legislation that includes amnesty -- in whatever "pretty" package they can wrap it in.
That's why now -- more than ever -- opportunities abound for our message to get diluted as pro-amnesty legislators in the Senate attempt to find "solutions" and "compromises" that they can "sell" to the American people -- "solutions" that may be wrapped in pretty packages but still amount to amnesty for millions of illegal aliens!
And that's why we need to continue to send our elected officials a clear message as they go back home to their districts.
Tell them the American people are tired of "bait and switch compromises" and "comprehensive dog and pony shows."
Tell them the American people want secure borders and tough enforcement, and
no amnesty -- period!
