The Kinston Woman's Club installed its 2006 officers during a Christmas luncheon at Lydia's Tea Room Thursday.
Mary Neale Mills, a former KWC president, installed the officers as follows: Alice Hatcher and Kathy Tucker, co-presidents; Kathy K. Riggs, vice president; Eleanor Mallard, recording secretary; Sara Murray, treasurer and Patricia Smith, corresponding secretary.
The club, in its 70th year in Kinston, is under the |
umbrella of the General Federation of Women's Clubs and the GFWC-North Carolina. The GFWC is the largest non-denominational and non-partisan women's volunteer organization in the world.
The club selects local projects that fall within the categories of the six state and international departments: Arts, Conservation, Education, Home Life, International Affairs and Public Affairs.
During the past year the KWC has supported Caswell Center, the Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels and the Lenoir County Red Cross. In September a $200 donation was made to Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts.
