An 18-year-old Kinston man was shot Wednesday night and remains in critical condition at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
Marquez Williams was near the corner of Bright and McDaniel streets about 8:20 p.m. when he was shot in the abdomen by Adrian Holloway, Kinston police say.
Kinston Public Safety Department Cmdr. Greg Thompson said officers are searching for Adrian Holloway, 22, of 1502 Charlotte St., in connection with the shooting. He is being charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to injure and kill.
Holloway is a black male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighs about 145 pounds.
“We don’t know a motive yet,” Thompson said. “We’re still looking into that.”
Investigators have talked with several witnesses who are not cooperating, Thompson said. More witnesses are being tracked down. Police have been unable to talk with Williams because of his medical status.
Thompson said officers don’t know if the shooting was gang-related. Neither of the men lived in the Simon Bright Apartments where the shooting occurred.
Holloway has an extensive criminal record dating back to February 2001, according to N.C. Department of Corrections records. He has been convicted of disorderly conduct, assault, breaking and entering and five counts of robbery. He was last released from prison in June 2005.
Anyone who saw the shooting or has any information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers, 523-4444, or Thompson at 939-3199. |
