As the Wind Blows

Welcome to this column!
In the Gospel of John, third chapter, Jesus tells senior citizen, Bible reader, inquirer Nicodemus that the Holy Spirit is “like the wind.”
You might not see the wind, but the flutter of a leaf or a plastic bag blowing down the street is evidence of something. Nicodemus said that Jesus was doing things that only God can do. So for Nicodemus and our own benefit, Jesus describes a dynamic that is in place today.
In the Scriptures we read that “faith comes by hearing and hearing comes by the preaching of Christ.” It is also written that “no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.” There is a link between God's revealed word and the acts of Christ.
Why should you read this column? Like Nicodemus you might get a helpful insight from God. I promise to use the Scriptures or, better said, I pray to be led by the Holy Spirit and as Scripture addresses you and me. A sense of humor is welcomed. No great shakes about my denominational roots. A little mystery keeps us interesting. I am an active pastor, and like St. Paul, preach Christ and Him crucified. I pray that you will be edified. Engaging issues are welcome.
